XSPC introduced their AX series of 120mm size radiators in 2012 (reviewed here), and this also brought along the box shroud design that XSPC and EK have since used for their radiators- especially EK. XSPC did not have a lot of 140mm size radiator options till end of 2015 when they introduced the AX series in 140, 280, 420 and 560mm sizes in black and white color options. This joins their EX line and promises more performance, and as such is their flagship in this size by default. Thanks to Paul, we now have a sample of the 560mm version for this review.
Let’s begin by taking a look at the specs from the product page:
- 3mm Thick Aluminium Frame (No aluminium in the flow path)
- Copper and Brass Core
- Matt Black Painted Core
- Black Chrome Plated G1/4″ Ports
- RoHS Compliant
- Dimensions: 150 x 40 x 612 mm (WxDxH) (46mm at ports)
- Weight: ~ 1639g
- Screws: 6-32 UNC
- Fans: 4 x 140mm (8x with push/pull)
- Supplied 30mm and 6mm 6-32 UNC screws
There is also a technical drawing here which is very handy when planning out product compatibility in a case and loop layout. As mentioned previously, there are 2 color options in each size at the moment and I have the white AX560 here. This adopts the same aluminum frame design seen in the XSPC Ion with a white powder-coat finish here. The core, which has a standard copper and brass composition for the fins, tubing and endtanks has black paint on it and gives a good contrast with the white frame as we will see soon. The radiator is on the longer and heavier side of average owing to the thick aluminum frame, so please account for this. There is a standard 1 year limited warranty on this, and any manufacturer defects with rads are easy to detect within a few days of ownership so I am okay with the warranty period here. Let’s take a better look at the radiator on the next page.
