Swiftech released their first AIO (all in one) CPU cooler, the H220, in 2013. It had a custom CPU waterblock and integrated pump that delivered good performance relative to CLCs (closed loop coolers) and was expandable to include further components as desired. But with Asetek having been granted a patent on “Cooling system for a computer system” (US 8240362 B2), the formal sales of this unit as well as its bigger version the H320 was stopped in the US. I will not get into the details of the patent here but the bottom line was that an integrated CPU waterblock and pump was not something legally viable in the US anymore- and continues to be so- unless from Asetek directly or licensed from them.

Enter the H220-X. This new and supposedly improved version decouples the pump from the CPU block and puts it on a radiator/reservoir/pump combo unit instead. Thanks to Bryan and Gabe, we can now take a look at the unit in detail.
